Mashadani accused of involvement in bombing of parliament in April 2007[edit]
Mashadani and his assistant were believed to be involved in the April 12, 2007 suicide bombing of the parliament building.

It was also reported that the reason why he was removed as speaker was because he opposed a no confidence vote against PM Nuri al-Maliki
