Some sites proving notability for including this band on Wikipedia[edit]

MUCHMUSIC: http://www.muchmusic.com/music/artists/videofile.asp?artist=1139 VH1: http://www.vh1.com/artists/az/magneta_lane_1/artist.jhtml UNIVERSAL MUSIC CANADA :http://www.universalmusic.ca/magnetalane/ AOL MUSIC: http://music.channel.aol.com/artist/main.adp? _pgtyp=pdct&artistid=682275&ovchn=INK&ovcpn=SiteMatch&ovcrn=SMX&ovtac=PI

I am a little offended by the comments. I understand questioning whether a band deserves to be on Wikipedia is useful, however, it would take under one minute to go to MTV's website and read a band profile on them. Ignorance is the opposite of what Wikipedia strives to achieve. It is not fair to delete this article simply because they haven't heard of this band. This band is currently playing in Japan. Also, they are Canada's biggest all female group. lol. I was surprised to find they weren't on here. Honestly, its almost insulting. I thought you guys weren't supposed to bite the newcomer. I got voted for deletion after writing like 3 sentences (I save in mulitple saves). Honestly, this afternoon was the first time i decided to write a Wikipedia article and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I think it would have been more condusive to a positive atmosphere if one, maybe they bothered to check even just MTV's website, two, emailed and asked me who they were and what sites, media they have been in, and where they have toured, etc. Three, the second person flat out told me i was writing a vanity article. Funny, I am not in Magneta, nor do I know them. I am simply a fan. The first person who put up a vote for deletion was suggestive, and actually gave me some tips. However, I still feel as if this sort of random voting for deletion is dangerous. If you guys are going to be on here voting everything you have never heard of before, then why are you even interested in Wikipedia. Until today I have always loved Wikipedia (bad taste in my mouth, i don't mind criticism, i encourage it, but you guys have been rude and hurtful) because its a place where you can learn something new. I know about a lot of things I have studied art, molecular biology, physics, english, chemistry, philosophy, psychology, and went I am not naive or egotistical enough to assume that I know even a small fraction of what there is to know. I encourage all Wikipedia users out there to be more careful, considerate and thoughtful about such nominations. Please do not vote to delete until you have grounds to do so. If you typed Magneta Lane into a search engine and do not have any hits, or those hits are NOT from a well-known source (say a local newspaper review), I would understand. Furthermore, if you suspect something isn't right with someone's article, be kind and don't accuse them of anything. Its hurtful and discourages what this site has to the potential to do. BE POSITIVE PEOPLE!!

To defend Wikipedia, the article as it stood when the vfd tag was put up by another user stated that the band was "up and coming" instead of internationally recognized, quite a difference. Language like "up and coming" is usually inherent in most band vanity pages, and if you check the logs of each day you can find lots of them. I've only taken part in the vfd process for a couple days but nominated a lot of them myself, and it gets tedious, and people may nominate a page without taking the proper steps. But with Wikipedia you can easily rectify these mistakes simply by providing links and google hits. No need to take things personal. This might make things clearer.
