Operators[edit]

Designation[edit]

Just out of curiosity, why is the postwar designation used for a weapon that is best known for its service during World War II?--172.190.68.35 (talk) 06:43, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

The 8-inch gun M1 and M115 howitzer are the same weapons system. The original name was changed to the M115 in the 1950s or 1960s (depending on the ref).

Does not make scense to put the hen into the egg. Different way makes more scense and do a link to a chapter, where the use from 1962 on with the new name is explained. For German Wiki we will do solve it, by naming it 8-inch-Howitzer M1, M2 and M115 and melt it together.
