Untitled[edit]

Burmester seems obscure outside engineering circles, but a brief survey of the web indicates that Burmester points and Burmester theory are still of great interest to engineers and evidently Burmester's subject matter, linkages was of great importance for the Industrial Revolution and hence modern life. There is a German wiki page on Burmester, but this appears only to cover his professional life rather than what makes his work 'notable'.

I came across the name when consulting the wikipedia page on French curves (drawing instruments) and am assuming that French curves are also known as Burmester curves becasue they have been systematised in accordance with Burmester's work.

The information I have used was found in the first external link.

The external link to Burmester linkage (see figure 12) no longer works. Can this be fixed? Michiel Duvekot 17:37, 8 November 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mduvekot (talkcontribs)
