Name[edit]

I want to move this article to Louis Joseph de Bourbon, duc de Vendôme because I believe that was his complete name as his father was Louis II de Bourbon and Louis Joseph wasn't a bastard. The German wikipedia uses this name. Carl Logan 11:11, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as there hasn't been a public outcry, I have changed the name. Carl Logan 16:48, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Overly Flattering[edit]

My first impulse on reading this article is that it was written by a relative: it's in serious need of a more neutral rewrite. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.11.246.100 (talk) 04:22, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Overly flattering, and completely inaccurate. We don't need to believe everything Saint-Simon says about Vendôme, but to suggest that he "retired to his estates in disgust" after Oudenarde is absurd. And the ridiculous, completely unsupported claim that he was designated as the heir of Philip V leads me to believe that this article should simply be wiped and written again. To suggest that an illegitimate line of the House of Bourbon would be selected to succeed to the Spanish Crown, when Philip had a legitimate younger brother (the Duc de Berry) defies common sense. 24.129.184.60 (talk) 13:01, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
