Securities[edit]

Stocks[edit]

  • To go long is to buy a product such as stocks, holding them for a period of time and selling them again. The term is generally used in contrast with short selling and hedging.

This definition is not exactly correct. Is a stock a product?

It looks to me like an explantion of trading stocks not being long. At the moment he was long 10,000 shares. For now I will leave it for someone with more expertise than I about stocks, to fix. Does the word long imply either, holding which includes duration or selling as the only means of disposition?

There are probably other ways besides selling to dispose of or keep stocks.

It just seems to me, to be a lack of imagination. Can someone who knows about stocks and the use of language fix this line, please? GT

Names[edit]

Long is a surname, too, so maybe it should be added as one. and if you love someone you kiss her/him right away thats my comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.2.16.238 (talk) 09:30, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
