Biased??[edit]

I think this article is biased toward the school. Dustimagic *\o/* (talk/contribs) *\o/* 01:30, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll second that motion. (edit: updated signature only) dt

Me too. It would be helpful to re-state some of the opinions in the form of facts. For example, instead of saying "best sports teams," give specific details about recent championships, etc. NThurston 20:25, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and cleaned it up a little. Sources for the remaining claims would be good though. kotepho 09:47, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jackson Emery started this past year? He played like 5 minutes a game on average . . . .

One of the best choirs in the country???????

And seriously, enough with the nicknames. I doubt this Mr. McKendrick goes around town requesting that he be called "Nightcrawler". -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 03:37, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

October, 2007[edit]

Hello editors!

I just went through the first few sections and tried to start the process of a cleanup. This article needs some major work:

1. It requires a lot of citations. If these citations are not provided, major parts of the content will eventually be deleted. Someone more familiar with the school and Utah education in general will be able to help with this.

2. Make sure this is not some kind of an advertisement. Listing non-notable stuents can be interpreted as something of an advertisement for the clubs. Not to mention: these people are simply not notable by wikipedia guidelines. The only time a student should be mentioned is if they are somehow notable (verified by a reputable, neutral, third party source). for doing something . The same thing applies to staff members .... that list of club sponsors has to go. If those coaches are truly big national winners, they need to be cited, but should stay.

3. Avoid being weasely. If you mention rivals, don't put them down. Write about them from a neutral point of view. Writing from a neutral point of view (NPOV) is important.

I hope no one takes this personally. These are merely suggestions that I have picked up from writing articles that needed help. It is a tough thing to write a good article, and it takes time. Best of luck! LonelyBeacon 16:48, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What NOT to include in this article (and what TO include)[edit]

Greeting again editors!

I have some links for you to check out before adding new information or trying to re-add deleted information.

1. Go visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools to get a feel for what Wikipedia is looking for in articles about schools. There are a great many things that you can research and include, but there are many things that you may passionately feel are important, and simply don't belong in an encyclopedia article. Remember, this is not your school's homepage ... it is an encyclopedia article about your school.

2. Specifically check out: What not to include. This section outlines things that, even if you think they are important, will likely get deleted eventually, and would likely not hold up if the article gets sent to arbitration. Among the things not to include are events of short term importance like who caught a winning touchdown, band directors, how far the team made it in the basketball playoffs (unless it was like a top 4 finish or something like that), the names of coaches or teachers (unless they are otherwise notable), this year's spring musical, etc, etc. These are all either unencyclopedic, or are matters of short term interest.

3. Consider having this article assessed by either the folks at WikiProject Schools. they can be reached by the big links at the top of this Talk Page. People associated with the project will assess the article, and will give suggestions for improvement. This may help more specifically guide editors as to what needs to be added and what needs to be removed.

Best of luck! LonelyBeacon 01:23, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have taken the proverbial chainsaw to this article and have removed all of the uncited lofty claims that have been tagged for referencing (in most cases) since March 2008 or earlier. I was able to dig up some referencing on some of the sports championships, and added them where I could. Please, before you start adding anything, read wikipedia's policy on verifiability, sourcing, and what should not be included in wikipedia articles. Most importantly, this article is not to be used as the school's webpage, nor as the webpage for individual activities. LonelyBeacon (talk) 16:34, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I added a new infobox along with some referencing. If there is more referencable information, please add it with the appropriate reference. I also moved the pictures around. Because the articles is now much shorter, the "knight" picture looks a little funny, but that should change as the article is expanded. LonelyBeacon (talk) 00:25, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
