Notability[edit]

I agree with Sandstein that Zaha Hadid has some notable works and that the proposed Wikipedia:Notability (buildings, structures, and landmarks) guideline is not a good guideline. So it was a mistake for me tag the entire article for notability and particularly to cite that proposed guideline.

However, the general notability guideline is applicable, and as nearly as I can tell, none of the present content (all of it un-realized) is notable by that standard. It is difficult to understand how any un-realized project could be notable. It seems to me that the apparent intent to include all the artist’s works in this article is a mistake. —teb728 t c 04:31, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Zaha Hadid is known as a "paper architect". She gained initial notoriety due to all her prize-winning work that was not realized (maybe because it was a bit too unconventional). That'll be apparent in due course as I finish that list and clean up her main article. Accordingly it's important, I think, to list her (verifiable) unrealised work. Certainly some of that work is notable, just google "zaha hadid the peak" for instance, but that's not really the point. It's more like a notable writer's bibliography: not all of his novels have to be notable in order to be included in a "bibliography" section in his article.  Sandstein  08:10, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I guess I have to concede that writers do have complete lists of their works. But typically they are in the biographies—not broken out into a separate article. It seems strange to me that you did that: After all, the biography is not overly long.
In any case it seems to me that the article would profit from your explanation here about her un-realized work. Also, it seems to me that the article would be better if rather than being a plain list, it might concentrate on her major works and analyzing how they relate to the minor works (assuming that such analysis would not be original research). —teb728 t c 07:23, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I intend to rewrite the lead and the main article Zaha Hadid once I'm done with this list. I've not made it part of the main article because it would really be too long there, per WP:SS. The main article should have only a brief list of her most important works, possibly with the analysis that you mention.  Sandstein  09:35, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
