Nantucket[edit]

Why is a vessel (Wyoming) that apparently sank off Nantucket in 1924 listed on this page? Viv Hamilton 09:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wheel Wreck[edit]

I have added an article for the protected Wheel Wreck - but its date is only known as 19th century, so I can't list it by date. As it is protected because it is thought to be of national significance, it really ought to appear somewhere! Viv Hamilton 15:21, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

U-480[edit]

The U-480 is listed as sunk off the Scilly isles, but I'm just watching a History Channel documentary (Deep Wreck Mysteries 1x05, "Stealth Sub") that claims to have found it in the English Channel. Should this be mentioned? Torak (talk) 20:00, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sapphire[edit]

"Sapphire was wrecked on 31 March 1670 when she was deliberately run aground at Sicily to escape from what her captain, John Pearce, thought were four Algerian corsairs. They weren't, and Pearce and his lieutenant, Andrew Logan, were shot for cowardice at Deptford on 26 August 1670.[citation needed]" A reliable source is needed for this version of events; if it is true the wreck at St Agnes must be some other ship.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 20:45, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Will have a look in the Shipwreck Index, next time I am in the library. Jowaninpensans (talk) 21:49, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"===1671===* 31 — the captain and lieutenant of HMS Sapphire (1651) ( Royal Navy) was tried by court martial and sentenced to be shot for running the ship ashore. Captain John Pearce had mistakenly decided that four sails were Algerine corsairs and despite objections from the master and the ship's company he ran her ashore on Perconger ledge, St Agnes to save her from capture.[1] // This vessel was lost at Sicily and not the Isles of Scilly.": moving text here so that comment about Sicily is not in the list itself.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 11:21, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Torrey Canyon[edit]

Perhaps this does not need to be here as it is in the related article on Seven Stones Reef shipwrecks.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 18:24, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
