(Note the "merge" decision was made on a previous version of the list, where two articles covered much the same ground and were contradictory - my expansion in recent days has made a re-separation necessary.)

Untitled[edit]

Just noting that in order to avoid rather major problems with past versions of this list, the content must be rather specifically sourced. The state primary and high schools come from the Education Department's "Schools Online" portal, with some help from other sites and books mainly with regard to closed schools (as they disappear from the portal the moment they close), whilst the private schools come from a gazettal in the Government Gazette of 6 February 2009 entitled "School Education Act 1999 - Registered Non-Government Schools". A significant body of other info on non-government schools (opening years, abolished schools etc) came from the school's websites. So:

  • If it is not in the gazette
  • If it is outside the Metropolitan Region Scheme (i.e. is in Mandurah or further south than Serpentine, or further north than Bullsbrook or Yanchep):

don't add it! :)

Note the project is as yet incomplete - I'm struggling to finish a bunch of assignments offline but had the material to do this so thought I would. The main things to go in are the remaining Catholic primary schools, and the independents. Orderinchaos 11:29, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Balga Junior Primary School[edit]

Till a certain point, Balga Junior Primary School was NOT a part of Balga Primary School, even though it was on the same land. The two were amalgamated, but I can't recall the exact date other than it being between 1992 and 1996.

I know Balga Junior Primary School isn't listed in the article either...DarkNightWolf (T|C|M) 04:58, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm not honestly sure what to do about the junior and infants' primary schools - there was a tonne of them back in the day. For the most part (with some notable exceptions such as Newcastle St Infants' School) they actually were under the same files at the Education Dept - i.e. they were different campuses of the same school, although they had separate administrations and enrolments. For the moment I've been focused on getting the lists of PSs and higher completed - the rural ones are proving a challenge as there is *so* many former schools and the sources aren't as cohesive as they could be. Also going to be away for almost a week from tomorrow. Orderinchaos 06:37, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Side note - the ones I know for sure had separate infants schools were: Beaconsfield, Claremont, Cottesloe, East Fremantle, East Victoria Park, Fremantle, Highgate, Maylands, Mt Hawthorn, Newcastle St*, North Perth, Subiaco, and in rural areas, Albany, Boulder, Bunbury. My source was the 1951 Education Circular at the Battye Library - there may be more in that source. Obviously doesn't include any that were built afterwards, such as Balga. 1974 MSD notes Balga, Belmay, Bentley, East Victoria Park, Hillcrest, Kewdale, Lockridge, Maylands, Mt Hawthorn, Newcastle St*, Nollamara, North Balga, North Perth, North Scarborough*, Tuart Hill, West Midland, Westminster. 1984 UBD notes all of the above except East Victoria Park, Hillcrest, Maylands, Newcastle St (which had definitely closed) and West Midland. It would seem this locus of schools should be the focus for research into JPS/infants. Orderinchaos 06:43, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
