Colors[edit]

I know it's standard, but only because I checked. Somewhere there should be mention of why the typhoon names have certain colors when they are listed. —ScouterSig 21:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move page[edit]

I think it's about time that this page be moved to incorporate all retired Pacific typhoon names. Rather than splitting articles up by agency, it's probably best to combine them all into a single article. Since this is a featured list, I figured I would have to discuss this before doing anything. Details for the PAGASA names are readily available within its respective article and I have the table for JTWC names prepared in a sandbox. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 12:31, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Im not sure its wise to be including the PAGASA names within this article, but im fine for the JTWC one to be included. Would suggest contacting TRM and posibily a few of the other FLC Editors.Jason Rees (talk) 13:02, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Article needs to be reworked regardless since it doesn't meet FLC standards anymore as far as I can tell. As for PAGASA, I don't see an issue with including them. What I have in my mind is the following format:

==List of retired names==
===JTWC era names===
===JMA era names===
===PAGASA names===

It's basically ready to be moved. User:Jason Rees recently updated and added the pre-2000 retirees. I'm moving it, although if anyone has any problems or concerns as a result of the move, please comment that here. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:18, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Future G/FT[edit]

@Yellow Evan: thank you for your work on Typhoon Ike! We are one article closer to having every retired Pacific typhoons rated as a good article or better. With Yellow Evan's recent work on Typhoon Mike, every single retired named used by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center is a good article, so arguably we could have a good topic for JTWC names. Not sure how we would name it, or if it would violate the spirit of good topics. Jason Rees might have a say. The Wikiwork for all retired Pacific typhoon names is 2.60, which is between B-class and GA-class. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:57, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... Since the JMA and the typhoon committee have basically adopted the JTWC names, I think it would have to be one topic im afraid.Jason Rees (talk) 15:13, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've assumed this would be one topic for like six years :P YE Pacific Hurricane 16:39, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Then are there any newer editors who might be interested in working on typhoons from this decade? There are a lot of newer storms that aren't in too good of shape. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:04, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, there's a good chance by this time next year I'll be doing mid 90s WPAC articles but I doubt it'll touch anything post 2006 where most of these goles lie. I'd like to see someone like Typhoon2013 give some of these a shot but I don't know if he'd be up for it. YE Pacific Hurricane 21:37, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Meow:, and anyone else watching this page - are there any editors on the 2018 Pacific typhoon season who could provide editing skills for this set of typhoon articles? I know there's a typhoon threatening Japan (Jongdari) but there are some pretty important storms that have scant (or unreliable) information on Wikipedia, especially after 2006. If anyone has some editing time, I think it's fair to say this is a priority. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 00:45, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
