Status Report & Reason for Existence of this page[edit]

This page, like all the others that I am working on, is being, admittedly slowly, created with each entry referenced and with short descriptions of each individual mentioned, which thus provides more information than the category itself. It would also negate the need to have someone looking for a person from the area who meets specific criteria for era or type of activity to go through each and every page in the category. Also, it is my intention to add to the list all the names which I find in the book referenced, including those names which do not yet have articles. Notable graduates of colleges in the area, as well as noted sports figures for teams in the area, will also, I hope, eventually be included as well. I acknowledge up front that the people from "York, Pennsylvania," following where it does in the alphabet, may well be among the last included, however. I also note that most of the past week has been spent in putting the people from the Category: People from Texas into the various existing subcategories as appropriate, and that that action has caused a significant delay in filling any of the lists for residents of metropolitan areas. I am in removing the banner from this page in the hope that this explanation of its existence and it's current lack of names is sufficient to make you reconsider your decision to request its deletion. However, that decision is entirely yours to make. If you wished, however, you could add the names from the category yourself, or request me to do the same, with the accompanying minimal biographical data. However, for my own purposes, including preventing the possibility of confusing myself as to what has and has not already been accomplished, I would prefer to work on it systematically in the way being done now. There were a whole bunch of names without even wikilinks and no references or external links as a second list at the bottom, so I just cut them out (one was a duplicate) and left the one list of only people with articles (no redlinks). If a person is notable enough to merit inclusion here, write and article on her, then add her back and link to the article. See WP:NN and WP:BLP and WP:NOT.
