Article title[edit]

I'd like to propose that we move this article to List of best-selling singles of the 21st century (UK), as this will bring it more in line with similar pages. Any thoughts? A Thousand Doors (talk | contribs) 01:59, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have no objections, I simply followed the name given on the Official Charts Company website. Is there a need to specify the period in the title, as it is an official chart but only covers 2000-2012, not the whole century? How about List of best-selling singles 2000-2012 (UK) or something similar, or is it sufficient to make this clear in the article? 03 md 00:29, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Presumably the OCC will compile similar lists over the coming years that reflect the biggest-selling singles of the 21st century so far - I was assuming that this list would continue to be updated as and when that happens. I guess we can cross that bridge when we come to it. I have moved it to the name you suggested. It may be a case of updating it when the OCC publish official charts and listing the changes to the list, or we may want to alter the name at that point. 03 md 03:42, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

21st Century[edit]

I hate to bring this hoary old chestnut up, but, according to the WP definition 21st century begins in 2001 Wikipedia:CENTURY. Reeeally, this page should be called List of best-selling singles of the 2000s in the United Kingdom, but because this is already used for the first decade, both pages should be renamed something like

List of best-selling singles of the 2000s (Century) in the United Kingdom List of best-selling singles of the 2000s (Decade) in the United Kingdom or List of best-selling singles 2000-2009 in the United Kingdom

Then we won't need to worry about it until 2100 when we'll need a List of best-selling singles of the 2000s (millennium) in the United Kingdom page for the on-going list.

Thank you for raising this issue. If this article's title contradicts with Wikipedia policy, then I've got no objection to its being moved. I guess that, of those options, my preference would be "List of best-selling singles of the 2000s (century) in the United Kingdom".
