Tissandier Flight 1875[edit]

The flight with Tissandeir (and the deaths of Spinelli and Sivel!) is not included?!? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaston_Tissandier https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Croc%C3%A9-Spinelli https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Th%C3%A9odore_Sivel

Unverified accident in 1996[edit]

Is anyone able to find a source for a hot air balloon crash that killed 5 people on January 31, 1996, on a mountain in the Lauterbrunnen Valley/Bernese Alps of Switzerland? The only source I can find for this is a list of balloon accidents from the Associated Press. I suspect this could be an error and may possibly refer to a balloon crash in 1982, when 4 people were killed on the Kranzberg mountain in the Bernese Alps. This 1982 accident is also missing from the AP list. I searched the site of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board which lists reports for all balloon accidents in Switzerland but they make no mention of a balloon accident in the Bernese Alps in January 1996, while this supposed 1996 accident would be the country's deadliest ballooning accident, if accurate. No mention either in the ASN Aviation Safety Database which lists nearly 2000 aviation accidents for Switzerland. Michael5046 (talk) 01:42, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem rather dubious; all I could find was a rehashing of the AP list in the Washington Post. There is, on a somewhat related note, a 1996 incident in Arizona. I'll be logging off soon, so I can't add it to the list now, but I'll add it tomorrow if you don't in the meantime. Thank you, Colonel Wilhelm Klink. I've been searching further and found a 1999 article from the German newspaper Hamburger Abendblatt, talking about an accident that happened at the time. At the end it has a "list of balloon accidents" and mentions a crash in the Bernese Alps in January 1996. It also adds some extra information, saying the 5 who died were all Germans (which wasn't in the AP list). But I still can't find any non-list articles. Just to add to that, I found 2 other instances in that AP list where either the date or year was incorrect. Michael5046 (talk) 03:29, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If this is all there is, I would say leave it off until something solid is found. If it is in fact real, something will turn up sooner or later, and it's best not to add dubious information to articles. Colonel Wilhelm Klink (Complaints|Mistakes) 16:34, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The data should be reorganized. Would it be ok if I did so? -- Rabenbaum (talk) 09:13, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.159.43.11 (talk) 20:02, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1785 accident[edit]

The 1785 English Channel crossing fire should have an article, as the first recorded aviation accident that is not mythical, legendary, or folk tale. [1][2] -- 65.94.171.217 (talk) 10:55, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have time right now to create something myself, but I agree it would deserve its own article, assuming there is enough information about the circumstances. There's already a section in Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier that could be used as a starting point for an article. Michael5046 (talk) 02:06, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ballooning disaster in Hungary[edit]

13 people were reportedly killed in a balloon accident near Debreczin, Hungary, in June 1907. The only source I can find is a very short article in the New York Times archive, but this would be significant because it would make it the 3rd worst ballooning disaster in history. Is there someone here who speaks Hungarian and is able to search local sources?
