Sunni Insurgents beyond ISIS[edit]

Hello,

the situation with the Sunni insurgents beside ISIS is very chaotic. A helpful page about the topic is this one, it's maybe one of the most extensive page about the Sunni Insurgents in Iraq: http://www.understandingwar.org/sites/default/files/Sunni%20Insurgency%20in%20Iraq.pdf I made some changes more or less according to it, but it would be good if anotherone would look at this text and help to put the text about the Sunni Insurgents in order after it. Nujaifi's National Mobilisation Forces and affiliated groups[edit]

Hello together,

maybe you have already heard about it. The former governor of the Nineveh Governorate, Atheel al-Nujaifi, who is backed by Turkish military has made up his own force, the National Mobilisation Forces (NMF), also known as Hashd al-Watani. His aim is an autonomous Nineveh province and we need to show this somewhere in this list, since he is a powerbroker in the battle for Mosul. Also, Kata'ib al-Mosul are linked to Nujaifi and even if formally independent, Harakat Ahrar al-Mosul and Kata'ib al-Hamza are closer to Nujaifi than to the Iraqi army (or any other Shia militia), Kurds, Ba'athists or Sunni insurgents.

Also, this faction is probably more powerful and influental than Ba'athists and Sunni insurgents together.

Any ideas how to change the organisation of this list to include this faction? I guess we should make up the point Nineveh separatists, but to put them under Sunni insurgents and Ba'athists would make them seem like just another militia alongside the IS, but in fact, fighting IS is their main goal. Also, they're totally wrong under the Iraqi gov't section, since there are heavy tensions between Baghdad and the Nujaifi family, which can be seen at the fact that there is an official arrest warrant for Atheel al-Nujaifi.

What do you think?

P.S.: Some informations for those who are not in the topic: [1], [2], [3],[4], [5]

Just one more idea: What about taking it to the Kurdistan section, with an own space, of course (like it's at Sunni insurgents and Ba'athists)?--Ermanarich (talk) 23:17, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

why is Iraqi Kurdistan is separate from Iraq.[edit]

Why is Iraqi Kurdistan and allies separate from the Iraq column, in the same way that ISIL has its own column as if they were fighting, when it is officially recognized by Iraq long before the civil war. Not only that but many of the "allies" under Iraqi Kurdistan could be said to be more friendly to Iraq than the KRG. This includes the Assyrian forces and some Yazidi forces are more friendly to the PMU and even some Yazidis don't identify as Kurds. People from the Iraqi government have also been supportive of the PKK, even calling for them to open an office in Baghdad. These two should not be separate columns because it is misleading and wrong. I'm quite unhappy with the last change, and also, there wasn't any kind of discussion at all. Iraqi Kurdistan is a Separatist power, which will sooner or later split from Iraq most probably with areas they recently conquered and also, there have already been clashes between the Peshmerga and the PMFs.
Another point is, that the Iraqi Kurdistan has some kind of alliance with Turkey, at least toa certain degree, whilst there are heavy tensions between Ankara and Baghdad. But also, looking at the point above about the Nineveh separatists, a section Iraqi Kurdistan would make sense, because the Nineveh separatists could be included there to, giving the section the name Iraqi Kurdistan, Nineveh separatists and allies.
But I agree that the point with PKK, Yazidi and Christian forces is more difficult, since their relations to the KRG are different.--Ermanarich (talk) 21:52, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so this is just not good. Editors are just changing it around without even thinking about a discussion. As I said before, I'm convinced that Iraqi Kurdistan should be an own section. Also, we need to discuss what to do with Nujaifi's Nineveh Separatists. @Braganza and @Editor abcdef. Thanks.--Ermanarich (talk) 19:15, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A separate section would be good Braganza (talk) 19:38, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is, Iraqi Kurdistan is a major part of the Iraqi parliament, so I don't see why they should be separate. A divider line should be enough, as in the case of the SNC & AQ in the Syrian Civil War page. The difference is, Iraqi Kurdistan is part of the Iraqi government, but the same could not be said for the latter.
On the other hand, Nujaifi is no longer part of the Iraqi government and is considered an outlaw by them. I'm not sure where should his militia be place. Editor abcdef (talk) 21:42, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
