Recent reformat[edit]

User:Mariacricket, you have made several reformating decisions that I don't agree with:

  1. You have regrouped all the pictures so that the Overall Academic All-America Team Members of the Year winners are grouped with the 2-time winners.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:20, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! In reviewing recent edits on this article, it appears I did remove an image of Sarah Pavan, by mistake. Apologies! I’ll be happy to add that back, if you’d like and/or recommend it! However, I was unable to find any images of 2-time winners that previously were included and removed from this article? (put my initial reply under the wrong section, sorry!) User:Mariacricket, There is confusion because I linked List of Academic All-America Team Members of the Year while discussing this article. In this article the winners of that overall award had pictures grouped separately from multiple winners. You have moved the images into a gallery section. Consensus has not arrived on Wikipedia:Gallery pages, but I think gallery sections are frowned upon. Images to the side of relevant text and tables is prefered.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  2. You have randomly placed the pictures in the middle of the article.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:20, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The mentioned article does not currently contain images. So I’m not sure how to proceed with this one? Any input is welcomed and appreciated. Happy to help. Mariacricket (talk) 03:28, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    See above.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  3. You removed school colors-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:20, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In prior versions, with the school color border being present on the right of the winner name column, I felt that this made reading difficult, including for colorblind/visually impaired readers (WP:COLOR and MOS:TEXT, section: "In templates and tables”) as it can easily be perceived as an indicator for data separation reading left to right (when that is not the case). Additionally, the inclusion of school colors could be viewed as redundant given that this article and its tables already include the winner’s school information with the associated wikilinks.
Furthermore, similar articles listing award winners for college athletes do not include a school color column (see John R. Wooden Award, Honda Sports Award (basketball), Walter Camp Award and List of Heisman Trophy winners, etc.). Also see MOS:DEVIATIONS regarding consistency in appearance across Wikipedia/articles (“greater degree of professionalism by ensuring a consistent appearance between articles.”). Perhaps this could lead to a discussion about formalizing a table template for all college sports awards? Mariacricket (talk) 03:33, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We are trying to determine what a WP:FL format should be for these articles. During Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Football Academic All-America Team Members of the Year/archive1, there was extensive discussion on formatting and colors. Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Football Academic All-America Team Members of the Year/archive2 is happening now. The long and the short of it was that team affiliation is presented in both prose and colors throughout WP sports articles, so some amount of it is tolerable in lists like these.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note that almost all active players have both prose and color depicting team affiliation and all articles associated with teams also have coloration.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:33, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  4. You have separated the lists into a bunch of separate tables.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:20, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This change was made with legibility in mind. I felt in prior versions of this article, the data was visually dense and long. So per recommendations from MOS:TABLE (“For very long tables, manageability and maintenance of the page may be better served by breaking information up into several smaller tables”), I made this edit. If there is a consensus who disagrees with this or any of the above, I’m happy to be “overruled” and revert back. Mariacricket (talk) 03:34, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I find the information separated all over the place to be confusing. In a unified table it is easy to understand how all of the awards in a given year are related.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain each change.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:20, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
