August 2012[edit]

When this page was created, there was no link to it from the main article page, The Real Housewives of New Jersey. I painstakingly manually put the episode guide back on the main page because I really did not know how to fix it but the info. and work was effectively gone and I caused many days-worth of changes to be lost. I have been working since then to help with the main page. Right now the main article page episode list info. conflicts with this page. How do I and more importantly should I, and may I please nominate this page for deletion? 68.37.29.229 (talk) 18:43, 1 May 2012 (UTC) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very sad to see what is being done to the episode guide in the name of "copyright" violations. I disagree that the information violates copyright. I say that it is promotional, basically public domain. But there are other people who do not want the episode information from the producers of the show(s) to be used. Those people happen to be admin. so I guess they win? HousewifeHater 20:40, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to restore episode info. but i was banned/blocked[edit]

Now the page is locked. The problem is there is a claim of copyright violation. Really, it is not, it is what is considered, "non-free use", but there is a dispute. I'll try to keep updated with this, it is happening on other articles as well.(Mob Wives Chicago for one) What is being proposed, (to para-phrase/re-write/or, re-tell) my OWN episode description, well, the funny thing is that that activity in itself is considered, "COPYVIO"-by Wikipedia's own standards. And in the case of episodes descriptions, I tend to agree! Using the "canned" episode descriptions, is a match made in heaven with the TEN criteria that needs to be satisfied for Non-free use. Some people would rather have a you-know-what match, and act-out in bully, (banning, blocking...tattle-tailing!)-ways, than in having a discussion about the problem and issues involved. I'd like to keep it on topic.yoyyoyyoyyoyyoy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.29.229 (talk) 21:23, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free is for images only! Also, WP:COPYVIO is an official guideline. If you like it or not, you must follow the guidelines. TBrandley 21:34, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
                                • Non-free content CAN SO be text!Non-free content CAN SO be text!**********************************************************

Well I was over-ruled-by force. by being banned and blocked and then the page was locked-down. Did you see how MUCH and how MANY episode descriptions were DELETED??? Just gone! And when I tried to undo and put back what someone else was good enough to ADD,well-I was punished hha ha. After doing more research on Wikipedia, I am SURE now that this was not done correctly. Non-free content CAN SO be text! This was done WRONG. It should have been up for discussion! As far as the ten criteria for using non-free text, not having a replacement is one-WHERE is the replacement of the info. that was removed? ALL in the name of "copyvio"-HA! In my spare time I have looked-around at other shows like Grey's Anatomy for instance---did you know that an overly descriptive plot synopsis is a "copyvio"-(derivative)-as well? Yet I was repeatedly advised by the very admins and banning people that I should produce a derivative, (copyvio by Wikipedia standards)-plot episode description. In any event----the WAY that this has been done, with NO discussion-just acting like the stink of copyvio because the text was verbatim c&P episode descriptions...... YES-it was C&P--but NOT a copyvio because it was NON-FREE USE as spelled-out. promotional. And to FURTHER do free legal work for Wikipedia, I will add that As US Copyright law says, the "First Sale" doctrine applies to promotional episode synopsis which was FREELY GIVEN as promotional material. In other words---using the promotional episode info. is the least copyvio out of the choice of writing one in one's own words, the latter being a more offensive copyvio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.29.229 (talk) 17:19, 6 August 2012 (UTC) [reply]

Don't yell! Non-free use is only for images. There is no prove that it isn't for images. It is WP:COPYVIO; I'm not going to keep explaining myself. TBrandley 17:22, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can't be serious? You have admin and the power to block and all that bs and you don't know this------------------>?blablablablablabnonononon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Non-free_content — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.29.229 (talk) 17:41, 6 August 2012 (UTC) Shortcuts: WP:NFC WP:NONFREE WP:FAIR WP:FAIRUSE WP:F — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.29.229 (talk) 17:58, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm done. One last time: Non-free is only for images. TBrandley 18:12, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I posted more than one link that explains how non free is for content/text so what you say makes no sense.~``` — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.29.229 (talk) 20:20, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, 68.37.29.229, I am Dianna and I am an administrator on this wiki. The material on the source page is clearly marked as copyright © 2012 Bravo Media LLC so it can't be inserted here. Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose. What this means for prose is that you are not allowed to copy-paste copyright material because there is a free equivalent available: prose that you write yourself. This is an official Wikipedia policy with legal implications. WP: Copyrights. -- Dianna (talk) 00:56, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank-you for looking at the problem Dianna. I am trying to deal with this without getting rude, but it is very annoying to repeatedly see mis information being posted by people claiming to know better than myself, people who undo mine and other people's work, people who ban and block me and seemingly try to upset me by acting like they are so smart that they can do all of this so confidently, and then they post incorrect info.! I have a different understanding of the Wikipedia policy (and wondering why my interpretation is automatically the wrong one?) -I have provided several examples that say that exactly what you are saying, (writing detailed episode synopsis), is a violation of copyright as per Wikipedia. In my opinion, because that is what it says, Wikipedia clearly does not favor writing "derivative" works over verbatim non-free use text. By the way, the text may be on the Bravo.com website, but it is/was also available on the NBCUNI media village, and was freely given away as promotional material which is where US Copyright law grants "1st sale" protection to the material being re-used. Unlike some people, I do not want to be the copyvio police for all of Wikipedia, If I had my way for this one television show,(which was not even my addition!) eventually it would probably be re-worded by other editors if only to correct to present-tense. Also-what you are saying is false because, since the episode info. was deleted on List of The Real Housewives of New Jersey Episodes, there has been no replacement info. postedHousewifeHater 03:28, 9 August 2012 (UTC) HousewifeHater 03:28, 9 August 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Housewifehader (talkcontribs) [reply]
