Overmountain men[edit]

I received a review of this page in a personal communication from J.D. Lewis, who researched the North Carolina units in the American Revolution for six years and has several books and a database quoted on the page. I have corrected Note 8 about the Independent Corps of Light Horse to reflect his comments.

He also pointed out that the term Overmountain Men was not used by anyone at the time of the Revolution and was made up in the 1830s to describe the regiments west of the Appalachians. I have reflected his comments in notes on the entries for Overmountain Men and italicized the entry.

Copy of text to List of United States militia units in the American Revolutionary War[edit]

Some of the text and sourcing from this page has been copied to List of United States militia units in the American Revolutionary War to help in comparing militia units that served in the American Revolution from each of the 13 colonies.

Reason that FL failed[edit]

It is not clear to me why this article failed the Featured List review. If someone familiar with the process could explain that, it might be worthwhile resubmitting. -- Talk to G Moore 04:31, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
