Opera Nacional de México[edit]

Mexico is not in Central America--it is in North America. Pilch62 04:15, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

San Diego?[edit]

Notable enough? San Diego Opera DavidRF (talk) 21:45, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Under the opera project's current definition, a full time company is one that performs a minimum of six fully staged productions during an annual season. San Diego only does four. I personally feel that the definition is too exclusive and that this page should be expanded to include all professional opera companies in the U.S.Nrswanson (talk) 22:06, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
San Diego does five. (Four on the sidebar plus Aida). Checking the history, they've done five each year going back to 1989. That's alright whatever the limit is. Just making sure it wasn't an oversight. That's why I posted here first.DavidRF (talk) 01:02, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well if you look at the page now I have just expanded it a ton. There is already a List of important opera companies so I figured this page would be more useful as an all inclusive page for opera companies in North America.Nrswanson (talk) 01:59, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Thanks. DavidRF (talk) 02:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dead companies?[edit]

There's been a fair bit of blood-letting since this list was first published. Is it better to just remove the dead companies, or to mark the list entries up with the date/ season that they ceased producing? (an interim option would be to remove the dead companies which don't have a WP page, but leave those that do with a note). Any thoughts, preferences? Scarabocchio (talk) 12:46, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

suggest keeping those with blue links (Baltimore) and removing any defunct companies with red links or stubs. (Viva-Verdi. No tildes on iPad)
That was my preferred option until I actually started. Companies make a lot more of their creation than they do of their demise. It's not easy to find if companies are still active or not, unless they die explosively in flames or bankruptcy. There may be value in noting their former existence and death, rather than just pretending they never existed? Scarabocchio (talk) 15:01, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point. Then I think that it is OK to leave them on the list, but remove the WL brackets, since no article exists anyway. Viva-Verdi (talk) 16:04, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
