this[edit]

There's a problem with this article. It says List of Newport County A.F.C. players, yet non (or the large large majority) of players on the list didn't play for County since the club reformed as A.F.C. and only played for them as Newport County F.C. since the criteria is that only appearances in the Football League. I don't see the point in this, professional clubs have articles on players who have played 100 appearances of more and there hasn't been a problem there with articles being too large. On the official website a few years there was a list of players with over 100 apps. since the reform and there was only 30 players. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.195.69.73 (talk) 07:49, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In a footballing sense everyone accepts the original club and the new club are the same for all purposes of football history - hence the details of the new club and old club are in one article. I think your point is a more general one that the old club and new club could be two separate wiki articles - but that would be somewhat churlish towards the staff, current/former players, supporters and media who know the new club to be a continuation of the old club. The old/new split was only a sad quirk of the financial history.Pwimageglow (talk) 12:59, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
