I am looking at[edit]

two memorials to Alan Turing, Alan Turing (sculpture) and Alan Turing Memorial. The latter includes the phrase includes the phrase “victim of prejudice" but the former does not. Does this mean that it is not eligible for inclusion here? Then there is Jo Davidson's iconic (in the crowd I move in) statue to Walt Whitman, which has nothing to do with Whitman being gay. but he clearly was, so does that monument get included. Or do we need clear LGBT "content" in the memorial? Carptrash (talk) 17:44, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would this qualify? Oscar Wilde's tomb Carptrash (talk) 17:51, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I would include them. It is "the love that dare not speak its name" after all. And could you please create an article about the Whitman statue?Zigzig20s (talk) 19:04, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well there probably isn't an article about the Whitman, but I could write one sometime. So do we want to add, after "Following is a list of LGBT monuments and memorials: or monuments and memorials to LGBT persons? Carptrash (talk) 19:24, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean the one at Walt Whitman Bridge please?Zigzig20s (talk) 19:24, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I asked the question at Talk:Walt Whitman Bridge. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:07, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
But actually making the entire bridge should be added to this list?Zigzig20s (talk) 20:18, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure. Personally, I think this list should be limited to LGBT monuments and memorials, and not just any memorial to an LGBT person, but I'll let others decide the fate of this page, and I would be okay with a section for "Monuments and memorials to LGBT people". ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:24, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm taking the List of Confederate monuments and memorials as an example, where it includes not just Confederate monuments but also monuments named for Davis or Forrest.Zigzig20s (talk) 21:51, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And I believe that the List of Confederate monuments and memorials is a perfect example of what a wikipedia article should not be, so will suggest that here we not include M&Ms to gay folks unless broader issues are raised at or by the monument. Carptrash (talk) 21:46, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the Matthew Shepard Human Rights Triangle is a parkway, not a statue, but it is definitely a memorial to an individual who was gaybashed to death...Zigzig20s (talk) 06:13, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
