Nice job, people. :D SKS2K6 06:07, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

jeon hye bin[edit]

i would say to put it in Bin (singer), because that's what her stage name is now, but I think it's important to see what she does with her second album first.... SKS2K6 06:44, 13 September 2006 (UTC) (PS Just commenting for future reference).[reply]

I don't see anything bad doing it now, as even though she isn't notable by the WP:MUSIC, she could be considered notable as an drama actress. Monni 16:53, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding people[edit]

What's the point of adding artists and groups if there are no pages for them? Just so we have a record? Wouldn't it be better to make the page for the artist first, then have them inserted here? SKS2K6 06:41, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I guess it could be considered as something we are going to do soon... Some page names need disambiguating and inserting them before creating article avoids creating two entries for same singer/group (by different users). Monni 06:54, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jang Yoon Jung[edit]

Since she's a crossover artist ("semi-trot"), does she belong here? SKS2K6 08:14, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't include her... By looking at her entry in Yahoo Music Korea, it doesn't include pop or any its derivates. Monni 11:28, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New names[edit]

Hi all, I'm new to editing Wikipedia. I've done a lot of scoping the pages, but I'm new to adding stuff. I started by adding a page for Haha, who I love. Then Lee Jung and 7 Dayz. I added more pages in hopes that people will start to create more pages. I'm trying to go through them and add more, but it's proving to be a bit of work. Anyway, let's keep working on this together! --Emberry 00:24, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well... I'm currently going through some older artists (debuting in early 1990s) so when I finish translating and formatting, I might add them. It was fun to see that someone quoted my sandbox wiki in Chae Yeon article even though most of the information was still unverified. Monni 08:21, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Who wants to disambiguate all these new entries? I would, but I have no idea who half these new entries are (are they singers or groups or bands or what?). Also, many groups with alternative spellings (like TVXQ and TSZX) are now mentioned repeatedly in the list. SKS2K6 05:53, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I usually Google up artists using hangul version of the name... If there isn't any results, then most likely that artist isn't notable enough to be in an encyclopaedia. I've only encountered handful of artists where I had to use hanja version of the name, most likely were more popular in China than in Korea. Monni 20:25, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am also disambiguating names, but if an artist's name link doesn't have a page attached to it (like Beige or Cherry), I have been deleting the wikilink, until a k-pop fan can build the appropriate page. We should not link into disambiguation pages. Thanks! --Knulclunk 21:55, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested merge with List of Korean musicians[edit]

The scope of these two lists seems to be pretty similar. Wouldn't it be better to combine them into a single list? PC78 18:13, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of Korean musicians has wider scope, including atleast traditional and CCM musicians too. So I think it should be expanded to reflect the wider scope. Monni 07:59, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just added the T.T.Ma. entry[edit]

I'm a fan of TTMa and I just created their page entry.

idol groups should be taken out[edit]

There is a list at List of South Korean idol groups, so part of this list overlaps that one in content. Only solo K-pop singers should remain here. 小龙 (Timish) # xiǎolóng de xìnxiāng 13:16, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If they are idols that are mostly notable as a part of their group (SNSD, 2NE1, BEAST, etc), I don't see why they need to be listed here. This seems to have largely turned into another list of idols. We don't need that. Evaders99 (talk) 03:10, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If they are notable as individual singers, they should remain, people like G-Dragon and Xiah Junsu, for example. They have solo albums. But I agree that those who are only notable as members of their band and have no solo singing activities, should be taken out. Also, the page should be review protected, because we frequntly have to monitor it for red links and non-notable band members whose article is a redirect to their respective bands... Naming Convention[edit]

Some artists are listed under their Korean birth name, others under their stage name, and even some with their English names. Is there any reason for this? I would think that it would look neater and be easier to determine who is or isn't on the list by using one naming convention to list everybody... ARoyalPrincess (talk) 21:48, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The convention is whatever the article title happens to be. You'd have to go to each article and proposal an article move. Generally this is largely a debate between WP:COMMONNAME and WP:MONONYM if there is ambiguity or disambiguation needs. Then there are issues like Kim Seok-jin - Talk:Kim_Seok-jin/Archive_1#Requested_move_19_August_2019 which there probably isn't a better disambiguator.
