REST should be in there, I don't know what it means although -Zack3rdbb 21:56, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are many missing standard and non standard commands . 62.90.32.186 09:27, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

um, what about chmod ? is it non-rfc? even though, i think it should be listed, in additin, anything like chgrp used by some/any ftp servers?--192.116.17.51 11:16, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
chmod and chgrp have nothing to do with FTP, they're UNIX commands, and can be used remotely over SSH. You can use them with some SFTP clients, but not over FTP. Kankkis (talk) 19:50, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe its a good idea to point out that ther is no specification for the output of the LIST command (if indeed this is the case)?

Maybe the list should be presented as a table? That way you could remove all of the "(not RFC959)" notes, and just change the background color of the cell. It looks a bit confusing now, since about a third of the commands aren't RFC959. I don't know how to make a table in wiki, but I'm willing to learn if people agree that a table would be better. commands from cmd[edit]

What is this: ! delete literal prompt send ? debug ls put status append dir mdelete pwd trace ascii disconnect mdir quit type bell get mget quote user binary glob mkdir recv verbose bye hash mls remotehelp cd help mput rename close lcd open rmdir 94.180.16.73 (talk) 15:28, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

propose merge[edit]

A list, almost identical to this one, is already contained in the main article about FTP. I think it should either (1) be removed from there and link here, or (2) this article should be merged with it (which might not be a bad idea, since many people looking for FTP might actually want to look up a specific command). PizzaMan (talk) 12:24, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was removed from FTP a few months ago. RossPatterson (talk) 00:35, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted merge[edit]

This was merged to the main FTP article against the consensus expressed by the AFD, about 9 months after the AFD closed, with no discussion I could find. I've reverted the redirect; the list here is now out of date and I'll pull the commands out of the main FTP article, update the list here and link it from the main article as soon as possible.Vulcan's Forge (talk) 15:11, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
