Harris[edit]

Jengod - Thanks for creating this interesting article! My one concern from a quick glance is that I don't think Nathaniel H. Harris was the Harris referred to by the quote. Nathaniel H. Harris was a fairly obscure colonel at the time the quoted article was published, and I don't think he ever had anything to do with Polk. Isham G. Harris (CSA Governor of Tennessee) is maybe a better possibility, but I haven't read enough about Polk to have a good idea of who Harris would be for sure. Thanks for bringing your subject experience to the table! Unlinked for now and maybe an obvious Harris will emerge at someone point in the future. Again, TYSM. jengod (talk) 13:50, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Hog Farm: From a quick search, given that it's a Tennessee paper, i think you're right that it's probably Isham Harris (he seems to have commissioned Polk
as a Confederate officer?) jengod (talk) 13:55, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Isham is certainly the only one that would make sense. The only two more prominent Confederate Harrises I can find are two farily obscure militia general who wouldn't have had much or anything to do with Polk. Hog Farm Talk 04:11, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok imma link him and the worst that can happen is it's wrong and we learn something. :) jengod (talk) 04:46, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
