@Hurricanehink and Destroyeraa: I strongly disagree with you assessing this list as a C, as it isn't well formatted and up to standard, which is why I RV'd Chicdat the other day. I feel that it needs more of a lead as well as a proper background section rather than the stubby sections it has now. I also think that systems that were rated as Cat 2 but have had their intensities revised within the Reanalysis project should be included within the other systems section and that someone should go through the references and make sure that they are relevant to the list.Jason Rees (talk) 11:24, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding why I marked it C-class, it is complete, it has the tables that we'd expect from a high-quality list article, and everything is sourced. If that isn't C-class, then I don't know what is. Sure it needs more lead and background, and having everything be sortable, but that's the difference between C class and B or A class (or eventually taking it to FLC). ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 12:38, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Chicdat: Yes there are 354 references in the article but that doesn't change my opinion that the list is start class, until someone goes through the references and checks the relevance of them. Take Kirk 2011 for example, I see that you have referenced an NHC advisory on Tropical Depression Eleven, its tropical cyclone report and HURDAT, however, it was a fish spinner. In fact, I see that you have included an NHC advisory for several systems where its not needed. Also @Hurricanehink: It needs more lead, background as well as the table to be sorted before it is C class, however, im only one editor who feels that this content needs to be added before C class is achieved.Jason Rees (talk) 13:09, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

June 2022

Too make this list consistent with the Seasonal Effects Charts and the other intensity lists, I am in the process of switching the deaths and damages around. While I am doing this, I am introducing templates to ensure that the tables sort correctly and checking the references for relevancy. As a result of this check, I have generally removed references to the following books by "Jose J Fernández-Partagás", "A Reconstruction of Historical Tropical Cyclone Frequency in the Atlantic from Documentary and other Historical Sources." This is because the book does not contain anything about what impact systems had and just covers how the system were found. I am also removing references to HURDAT and replacing it with links to IBTRACS and the TCR's as the database was cited 248 times which isn't great. Its also wiser to use IBTRACS since we are pointing the reader to the data directly, rather than the whole database.Jason Rees (talk) 21:19, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I realised earlier that it isn't worth citing each individual tropical cyclone report for stuff like dates active, areas affected and intensity, when I have NCH writing Seasonal Summaries for the AMS. As a result, I am in the process of ripping the TCR's out and will use the AMS reports instead, except in rare occasions where its better to use the TCR. I hope this will bring down the page and number of references significantly.Jason Rees (talk) 22:40, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that Hurricane Gladys, 1968, cat 2 is missing from this list. Don't have time to do a full check, but if one is missing, would imagine others are as well...
