Summary[edit]

The story summary is not complete. Like, not even close.

Infobox[edit]

The "Preceded by/Followed by" feature in the infobox is meant to be used for books in a series, not simply name the writer's other books. AshcroftIleum 06:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Critiques[edit]

How was the book received in South Africa when first published? – Kaihsu 12:42, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The sex scene on the beach led to the book narrowly escaping being banned. Again, I need to find the reference. Totorotroll (talk) 14:24, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Date in which the novel takes place[edit]

I've just added the date in which the novel takes place. Noël says that he learned how to play cricket in the 30s. He's sixty during the novel. Based on that, it's safe to assume that the novel takes place during the late 70s, early 80s. Evenfiel (talk) 17:36, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The comment about "allowing minorities to determine their destinies" is revealing, according to Derek Attwell. I'll find the reference and add it. Totorotroll (talk) 14:24, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Race[edit]

I think the present section on race was written by someone with little understanding of the Cape in the 1980s and, until somebody writes a better informed piece, should not be relied on. --Clifford Mill (talk) 09:23, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
