Untitled[edit]

"Visionary?" Is he Karl Marx? Max Weber? Samuel Huntington? Or an obscure professor of IR with his last important book published in 1983, who teaches at a relatively unknown university; who has virtually no quotations in important journals? Karpada 15:08, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV[edit]

I have attempted to NPOV the first line, still I think the opinions like the visionary, should be supported by references and balanced by the opposite opinons abakharev 22:12, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

so i took out the visionary comment, and got rid of the NPOV tag, is that ok? 213.154.245.34 11:37, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quotations[edit]

Why are those quotations important? They don't seem to be contributing in any way to the information about the man, and in any case IMHO not something we should cherish in out heats forever.

COURSES[edit]

"Suransky's experience growing up under apartheid in South Africa has provided him with a unique, first had account of oppression. Such experience may be interpreted by some observers as being relevant to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "

Does that mean that my experience as a mother is relevant for me teaching a course in gynecology? University is not a place where your "experience" counts. Karpada 22:44, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good point, however I think the original comment was intended in the sense that Apartheid is often used as a comparator for the exclusion and isolation of palestinians. In that sense, having experienced apartheid firsthand has probably influenced Suransky's view on the middle east. Furthermore he lived and studied in Israel and as a jewish person is more than likely concerned with the events there. So to now merge this with your comment, had you studied medicine then being a mother may very well have been relevant to your teaching gynecology.Hurkummer

He is a professor currently in Holland. His work here deals with conflict studies and he is a founding member of a not-for-profit organisation which is working with the model of his simulations for a variety of institutions and organizations. For more info check www.paxludens.org. Hurkummer
