Mountain View Corridor[edit]

Could someone provide a reference for the Mountain View Corridor being part of the Legacy Highway. I don't think that it is. Val42 17:42, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While technically most people consider them seperate projects now, the Mountain View Corridor was originally part of the Legacy Highway. The part of the Legacy Highway that's under construction now is just the Legacy Parkway portion of it, not the entire highway. I can't find any specific sources at the moment, but I am positive that the Mountain View Corridor is part of the Legacy Highway project. Legacy Highway/Parkway being a freeway?[edit]

If a part of Legacy Highway/Parkway was a freeway, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of Interstate 15 (or vice-versa)?The Runescape Junkie 19:27, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Expanding I-15 won't alone solve the problem. For the construction period, there would be severe backups; if there's a major accident, people are still forced along the same small number of roads (U.S. 89, I-15, and Redwood Road), and overall an additional two lanes from expansion wouldn't help the situation that much. People need an additional major route into and out of Davis County. Neither defeats the purpose of the other. They complement each other, in fact. bob rulz 06:14, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, you'd prefer the emissions from the travel of these cars plus the emissions of these cars idling while they wait for the accident, construction or just the general congestion that happens in the same places day after day? This article must discuss the heinous traffic congestion on the I-15 portion between the North Interchange and Layton. Moreover, if the area is threatened by a terrorist attack or HAZMAT accident such as a chlorine spill residents would be trapped if the I-15 were accidentally or deliberately blocked.

Article needs a map[edit]

This article needs a map of the proposed Legacy Highway. I know that only the Legacy Parkway portion is "set in stone", but it would be nice to gather as much information as we can and make a map of the approximate route of the rest of this highway. UTA used to have the northern route from Farmington to 12th Street in Ogden on their web site, but then the latest round of lawsuits came up and the proposed routes disappeared. More information needed[edit]

Since the Legacy Parkway is under construction, we should add specific information: Length, route, how much wetland is disturbed and what mitigation is being done. Val42 05:41, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who will be affected[edit]

The path of legacy highway is going to travel from Nephi to Brigham. This will tear apart several acres of wetland, which is not a huge problem. But, along with that there are also several acres of farm that will also be destroyed. This is a direct supply of food to us that is being destroyed. This seems a little like shooting ourselves in the foot, does it not?

Along with that problem, there is also the question of what will happen once the highway reaches west valley? There are three different roads that the highway may lead through and these have been put up for discussion to determine the best choice. These three different roads are as follows, 56th, 72nd, or 84th west. If this highway was to travel through 56th west there are a substantial number of people’s houses and small businesses that will be strongly affected if not destroyed all together. But, if the highway runs through 72nd dozens of houses will be taken and destroyed. Not to mention the houses that will now be forced to live next to a major highway. Thus forth dramatically decreasing the all around value of their houses. Last but not least if this highway is permitted to run through 84th it will mean the ruin of several small businesses, churches, houses and even a couple schools. 205.124.34.6 13:51, 29 May 2007

How about some discussion of the terrible waste of money and time, because of the intervention of environmental activists and local politicians who wanted to tender their national political aspirations at the expense of the people of Utah?
