NPOV[edit]

Can someone attached to this article adjust the language to be less POV? -- Synapse 13:02, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there is a POV problem, the article is merely summarising the ideas of the main proponent of this school of ideas Votemoose 00:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although I've not finished re-writing the article, i feel i've removed all of the POV material and will be removing the NPOV tag shortlyVotemoose 19:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Improving this Article[edit]

Having a much longer look at the article it has quite a few problems, firstly in that it doesn't really flow as an article it seems to be as if various chunks relative to left realism have been thrown together in this article. I'm going to propose a re-working of the article to place left realism more in its context of development, first discussing the break from Critical Criminology and then the development of its ideas and finally bring it right up to date. The introduction also needs some reworking, which i'm going to attempt firstVotemoose 14:30, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Suggestions for new headings

  • Break with left realism
  • Local Victimisation Surveys
  • Debate With Other Currents
  • The Square of Crime
  • After Labour's 1997 election victory

I've now re-done the article headings, slightly differently to how i had stated before as i found these fitted better, although i still want to do a subsection on the break from 'left idealism' and abolitionismVotemoose 19:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some of this just doesn't make sense.[edit]

Take a look at this from 'Relative Deprivation'

The social democratic brand of positivism, although sensing that injustice was the root cause of crime, either deflected its attentions to purely individual deprivation (e.g. maternal deprivation, broken homes, etc.) or made the fundamental mistake of believing that ameliorating deprivation quantitatively in an absolute sense (e.g. raising standards of education, housing, etc.) would solve the problem of relative deprivation.

I'm in the middle of a paper and don't have time to rewrite. —Preceding unsigned comment added by B33p (talkcontribs) 23:44, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
