Cleanup Issues[edit]

What exactly needs to be done with this page? I have been trying to revise certain topics and subtopics throughout the article recently. I could use some assistance with this matter, thanks. 71.99.191.76 03:08, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I have made some major revisions on this page since last week (or so). Among the improvements, I have clairified all the topics and checked the document for any misspellings. I also expanded certain topics and clairified the links for the references used in the article. I am not sure what else needs to be done to clean up this article, but for now, I think the it looks good. I will not remove the cleanup tag until someone else, preferably an expert, has verified the artice. Wslupecki 14:44, 22 July 2006 (UTC) .[reply]

Okay, I have added two additional tags on the article page, stating that the neccessary revsions have been made, but still need verification. Wslupecki 02:05, 5 August 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Upon further verification, I have removed the cleanup tags. The article is pretty much neat and clean now but further expert review is still needed. Wslupecki 22:35, 6 August 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Contra-Flow Section[edit]

This section is outdated, but I cannot find any articles that dictate whether the contra-flow system was approved. I would appreciate help from anyone who is able to find this information. Wslupecki (talk) 15:59, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Split the Crosstown Expressway System section???[edit]

I've been thinking about this for a while. Would it be better to move the Crosstown Expressway System section into it's own page? I feel that somehow, that section, no longer fits in with the South Crosstown Expressway article. Wslupecki 15:21, 5 August 2006 (UTC). [reply]

The Crosstown Expressway system will be split into it's own article in the near future. Wslupecki 11:51, 1 November 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Crosstown/I-4 Connector (General)[edit]

Does anyone know what the proposed designation for the I-4/Crosstown Connector will be? I heard it's going to be tolled in some fashion, but I don't even know if that's true. Wslupecki 02:32, 6 August 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Crosstown/I-4 Connector (Split Article?)[edit]

I believe that the I-4/Crosstown Connector section should have it's own article, since the project is bugeted, planning well underway, and construction to commence within several years. The article would be called "Interstate 4/Crosstown Connector" and would later be revised to reflect whatever designation the road is given. In turn, I plan to remove the similar section from the I-4 article and replace it with a link to the new article instead. Please provide input to this and my other section split proposal if you wish. Wslupecki 23:50, 14 August 2006 (UTC).[reply]

To clarify things a little bit, I am proposing this page split because this proposed highway is well into it's mid to late planning stages and I believe it would be better for the topic to have it's own article page, rather than be spread out along two different articles, as it is now. Unfortunately, I CANNOT take action on this article split unless I get some feedback from other wikipedians. If you would like to sound off, please feel free to do so as long as wikipedia rules are not violated. Furthermore, if you could recruit other local wikipedians to do the same, I would highly appreciate it. Thank you. Wslupecki 20:27, 26 October 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Actually, you CAN take action. It's called Being bold and stuff. Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 17:02, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oooooooooh, you so funny! I think he just wanted to get some input from others first. 71.99.230.137.

Split Complete. I have created the new I-4/Crosstown Connector article after much planning. As a result, all pertinent info on the Selmon Exwy and I-4 pages have been replaced with a link to the new article. Wslupecki 03:14, 8 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Photos from a road trip today[edit]

I have some others too if you think a photo of something else might be useful. --SPUI (T - C) 17:26, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New Exit List Table[edit]

As you may have noticed, I have replaced the basic exit list with a more detailed table. This table is somewhat based on the State Road 408 (Florida) exit table and includes not only each interchange, but the tolls, major destinations (served by each exit), and other notes. I have also added tolls and access points for the new Reversable Lanes Bridge. If there is something you don't like about the table, please voice your opinion here before making any changes. Wslupecki 14:43, 18 August 2006 (UTC). [reply]

I should probably make the last message a bit more specific. Of course feel free to add any additional destinations, correct mispellings, etc. However, the big stuff (changing table layout, etc) should be discussed first. Wslupecki 03:48, 19 August 2006 (UTC). [reply]

I will be making several modifications to the exit table over next couple weeks to keep the table organized and to update information. I will also be incorporating several elements from the I-275 exit table. Wslupecki 12:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks to those who simplified the exit table. As the old one was too cluttered. I have reinstated the express lanes info on the new table however 71.99.236.162 (talk).

Lee Roy Selmon Crosstown Expressway takeover by Florida's Turnpike may be back on the table.[edit]

This will be the third or fourth instance where the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority's future will be up in the air. The latest plan comes from Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who is calling upon the Florida Legislature to look into obliterating the THCEA after the authority's director, Ralph Mervine, resigned upon heated controversy that may have ties to an (inapropriate) film company in California. If the THCEA is indeed obliterated by the Florida Legislature when the body meets in January, the Selmon-Crosstown Expressway will go into the hands of the Florida Turnpike Enterprise. For more info on the latest controversy surrounding the THCEA, go to the link below. 71.99.217.12 18:16, 11 November 2006 (UTC). [reply]

  • Follow-Up (5/29/07): It looks like the THCEA survived the impact of the Mervine dilemma. But accoring to numerous news reports over the past few months, the THCEA mess isn't over yet. They still have to find a permanent director and other staff, as well as get their finances back together. Hopefully the authority will be able to stay aloft, especially with the beltway proposal they're trying to make. Wslupecki 13:59, 29 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

39th St Exit Error[edit]

For those of you who may be familiar with the 39th St exit from the Crosstown. It was reduced to a half diamond during the widening of the expressway in that area. However, it is the toll plazas in which I became confused about. I initially thought that all the toll plazas from the exit had been removed from the interchange. Upon later observations however, the exit toll still exists. I do not know about the entry toll. Wslupecki 13:32, 2 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Upon further observation, the 39th St interchange is a 3/4 diamond. Only the eastbound exit was removed. There are tolls for the westbound entrance but I am not sure about the eastbound exit. I do not think there is a toll for the eastbound entrance. Wslupecki 12:29, 17 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

"Most traffic reports and locals refer to it as the Crosstown."[edit]

In the years since Lee Roy Selmon's death, I'm not sure it's still true that this road is still called the Crosstown. Seems to me that we call it the "Selmon Expressway" now. Here's a recent example, from WFLA in Tampa. -- JeffBillman (talk) 22:28, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
