Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on March 18, 2014.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the international success of Colombian singer songwriter Shakira's English-language debut album Laundry Service led to a critic deeming her the "biggest female crossover artist since Jennifer Lopez"?
Current status: Good article

Worldwide Sales[edit]

Although the article has a cited source of the album having sold 13 million copies worldwide, I think we should go with the sales figure found on Shakira's official website which states that the album has sold 20 million copies worldwide.

Can you tell me where is what sold the 20 million?, when I enter the page only the albums and their list of songs come out. I don't see where they explain the 20 million.Alejandro Ortiz 15 (talk) 23:32, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics[edit]

„The lyrics of some of the songs are a little bizarre, which has led to some criticism” -- I'll remove this until someone finds other source than amiright.com which is basically a site where people are making fun of lyrics. Alensha 14:46, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

Servicio de lavandería, Laundry Service and Laundry Service: Washed & Dried are different editions of the same recording session. All three should be merged to one single article. - Oskarg956 07:26, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sales[edit]

Could someone with a little more interest in the album read [1] and other relevant sources and sort out the sales figures, with proper references? Thanks. Nimmo 12:33, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Laundry Service.jpg[edit]

Image:Laundry Service.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Bad writing[edit]

"Shakira Was canceled the single of the new and english version Eyes Like Yours/Ojos Asi in 2005 but Shakira says was a next alnum in 2005"

...really? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.162.122.5 (talk) 23:10, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

/* Critical reception */ WP:UNDUE?[edit]

Is the Rolling Stone Lechner review being given WP:UNDUE? Although it should be covered, it seems that the article is giving it too much emphasis compared to other reviews, who seem to be more positive. Now this might be because Lechner's familiarity with Shakira's Spanish language albums, which the other reviewers might not be familiar with or linguistically qualified to comment on, but if this is the case, it should be stated as such while reducing the emphasis on Lechner's review.

Orphaned references in Laundry Service[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Laundry Service's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

World Sales[edit]

On the singer's facebook as well as on her website she places about 20 million copies of her album: Laundry Service I think we should take both of them as reliable sources since other pages have a very outdated account. I would like to know some answer. Links: https://www.facebook.com/5027904559/posts/10150830049184560 and the other link:https://www.shakira.com/music. Thank u Alejandro Ortiz 15 (talk) 22:50, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Alejandro Ortiz 15: Twitter should be avoided per WP:SOCIALMEDIA and the same goes to Shakira.com. I know we have reliable and third-party sources citing the 20 million. But, that's an "important figure" and have been discussed before that this album doesn't meet the requirements. With 8.5/9.7M certified and available sales, the current gap of 3.3 million from its claim of 13 million is in the line of the average for a 2001 album. Now, if you change it to the 20 million claim, you're double the gap from its certified/available sales, something that it's clearly inflated for any album released since that period (maybe we have exceptions, idk) and considering only sold under 4 million in the US. Regards, --Apoxyomenus (talk) 04:39, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, it was a question that I had in the same way I hope that Shakira's sales are updated to see the pure sales of her albums and singles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alejandro Ortiz 15 (talkcontribs) 17:00, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sales certificaded[edit]

Hi, On the ChartMaster Laundry Service page it already has 16 million copies, you can use that information to update sales. Please because 13 million copies are very low since 2003. I consider that you take the time to review my information. Link: https://chartmasters.org/2018/04/data-collector-biggest-cspc-albums-of-the-2000s/?fbclid=IwAR2pbaD2iDZhm_hBFcQzj4L-0P1j-1F7XhDZAgiahVL8Z3XQT8qi8uiwHHw, I'll be waiting for an answer AlexanderShakifan29 (talk) 13:43, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@AlexanderShakifan29: In addition to the website being unreliable, these are not the actual sales of the album, they are what is called CSPC sales which is a calculation that the owner of the website add the sales of the album, singles, compilations with the album songs, streamings and videos (VHS/DVD), then he divides and give a total. It can never be used here and be a parameter for anything. The sales of 15 million that are in the article are also exaggerated, the same Chartmasters said that the disc itself has sold 12.7 million in the world until today, there's no necessity to change the 13 million claim.--88marcus (talk) 22:09, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
