Rape allegations[edit]

Shouldn't there be a section about the rape allegations against him and how no team but the Mets would touch him with a ten foot pole because of those allegations?

Lastings Milledge Facts[edit]

I added the Lastings Milledge facts to the links section. I figured I would put this in there being it was shown on a Mets broadcast and could be read as a joke by anyone looking to find out more about Lastings and his popularity in New York. NYGiantsNYMets91 23:19, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Generally speaking, listings to fan sites are frowned upon in wikipedia unless they are of special significance - like a very large, established, active site with lots of varied content focused on the subject. If we aren't pretty strict about fan sites, the links sections can easily fill up with dubious listings. Give me a break. There are no blatant ads on the site, and one could argue that it is the "definitive" LM site, especially since Cotter mentioned it on SNY. I agree that we can't have every little site that mentions LM, but this is truly a unique site (not mine) that hundreds of NYM fans have contributed to and access on a regular basis. Expulsion from H.S.[edit]

There has been sort of a revert war over mentioning the sexual misconduct allegations against Milledge when he was in High School. Since the Daily News and other sources have reported his expulsion due to allegations he had sex with a minor, these should be reported in the article and cited appropriately. However, the nonsense which was added today about him being hit by a pitch in a high school game was both irrelevant and a serious violation of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. There was also a highly inappropriate joke about the sexual conduct allegations.

Please always make sure that when you write about a living person, you stick to the facts and cite sources. I will clean up the article and add this Daily News citation: [2] Rhobite 21:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little League World Series citation[edit]

An anonymous user added some info about Milledge's performance in the 1997 Little League World Series, and included a reference of "(The Tampa Tribune, August 14, 1997)." I found what appears to be the actual article in question here, and reformatted the reference using {{cite news}}. However, I should point out that I have no idea if the assertions made by the anonymous editor are confirmed by the article - only that the article mentions Milledge and seems to be about the referenced game. The reason I have not personally seen the article is that the Tampa Bay Tribune has a pay-per-article archive, and I do not want to pay this time around. If anyone has access to the archive (e.g. paper subscribers, etc.), feel free to confirm, then update the citation with a more specific URL and an accessdate. The site is still unaccessible to the non-paying user as of 24 September 2008. I searched for another webpage that would verify that he indeed played in the Little League World Series and the claim seems to be widespread. Here is the most reliable article from the St. Petersburg Times which might work better for the Wiki entry. Information on his performance, though, did not mention anything about him pitching (any links?), but does mention some batting milestones he had in the regional portion of the tournament.
