Nationality[edit]

This page gives the nationality as:

USA, UK, West Germany

The IMDb states it as:

USA | UK | West Germany

So this page is mimicking the IMDb. The IMDb lists the production companies as:

Allied Filmmakers, Bavaria Film, Neue Constantin Film

That order is alphabetical, the IMDb default order, so the order is not significant. The first company is Allied Filmmakers, which is British. The other two are (West) German.
The film is set in the USA, so someone has probably assumed the film must be American, a common error.
The director, Edel, states in his bonus audio interview included on the DVD of the documentary Hubert Selby Jr: It/ll Be Better Tomorrow that (he thinks) 100% of the financing was German.
Therefore, based on the director's statement, and my assumption that the IMDb company list is accurate, I am changing the nationality to:

West Germany | UK
