Informative books by Larry Fine[edit]

I met Larry fine at the NAMM show in the 1990s, and kept seeing him every year again. He is a sincere, modest and honest man, who has deep knowledge of pianos of all makes. His "Piano book" publication demonstrates a range of information that is rarely found in the today's world of ads and commercial tricks. He is not attached to any piano maker, thus making his independent study of pianos through his experience of many decades as a piano technician, who amassed deep and comprehensive knowledge of pianos of all makes. His encyclopedic knowledge is impressive, and it comes with his personal coolness, thoughtfulness and neutrality. I've read his books before, and I rely on Larry Fine's judgement of pianos.

Larry Fine may not even remember me, as I never hired his services, nor paid for his advice. I bought his books in the 1990s, before I met him in person. Then, he was open for numerous conversations at several NAMM shows, and I am glad now that I had open and educational discussions with him in the company of other specialists and pianomakers.

Thank you, Larry Fine, for your informative books, and for you educational and generous conversations. Regards, Steveshelokhonov 22:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And thanks for the warm-hearted assessment, but you should know that giving personal testimony is not the purpose of these pages -- this encyclopedia is a work of scholarship, so what we're aiming for is facts about our subject taken from recognized reference sources. We're allowed to praise Larry Fine, but only by saying things like "he won award X from Y", "famous person Z says W about him", or (as we currently have) "his book is in its fourth edition". If you know material of this kind, do feel free to put it in. Thanks, Opus33 04:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
