US has more LAND area than China?[edit]

Someone needs to check that source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:6:2580:B44:7C6D:3A7C:1B9C:94D8 (talk) 03:13, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Total area includes water area, I think we should use total land area instead. This data table is outdated and poorly made. If possible, I want to see figures for pastures, forests, built-up areas, roads, and deserts listed separately. 2001:8003:9008:1301:8C4C:9E84:F16E:C1D (talk) 10:12, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please review the sources[edit]

Take a look at satellite image of Comoros (the other islands look the same). It's rock and bush, no way there's anywhere close to 60%. The Book says [1]

arable land: 35.87%
permanent crops: 23.32%
other: 40.81% (2005)

Same for Sao Tome and Principe, Mauritius. Gaza Strip looks quite close to reported number, all other high-percentage countries must be re-checked against alternative sources. Maybe CIA should not be taken for granted? NVO (talk) 22:25, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't trust CIA at all and in fact I would welcome any alternative sources about any country. Greyhood (talk) 09:18, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe there is really much of an alternative with the breadth and depth of the factbook. On an unrelated note, the table doesn't re-sort for me when I click the little icon thing, is it my computer or do other people have this problem? TastyCakes (talk) 20:25, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It does resorts on my computer so apparantly it is your problem. If you mean it does resorts but wrongly, just try to resort it several times. Greyhood (talk) 22:05, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm it works with internet explorer but not firefox... strange... TastyCakes (talk) 22:20, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have both Firefox and Explorer and it works with both. Maybe your computer is just too slow with Firefox, the big charts resort slower than small ones and this chart is big. Greyhood (talk) 22:31, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Does arable land refer to land which is actually used for agriculture or to all the potential land that could be used for agriculture? Kostja (talk) 20:32, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

7%[edit]

That unsourced table says Russia's arable land makes up 7% of total.

Other sources indicate it is over 50% (http://en.worldstat.info/World/List_of_countries_by_Arable_land_%28percentage_of_agricultural_land%29), which seems closer to the truth. There's an enormous amount of farmland in Russia.Ordinary Person (talk) 01:29, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Serbia[edit]

The hell? 5 years and no one noticed Serbia is missing? I will edit the page by myself. Hope a bot doesn't revert it --189.179.43.162 (talk) 06:26, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Urban data + more[edit]

I hope the following helps to add a column or more, especially for urban land area (press show as it is collapsed), source: https://datacatalog.worldbank.org/dataset/world-development-indicators (2010)

I haven't the faintest idea of how to efficiently merge a single column, can someone help? Thanks! zmm (talk) 03:06, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
