Title[edit]

The name of the company was the Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway, with an M. At the time the county was spelt either way by different people, and it is only since the 1930s (say) that the spelling of the county name has firmed up on Dunbartonshire with an N. Several more recent writers (about the railway) have used the later spelling to "correct" the company name, but that is wrong.

The originator of this page does not say (in the first edit) where s/he got the name from; that person mostly used Awdry in other articles, but Awdry actually has the name corectly stated. Afterbrunel (talk) 10:11, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
