Anther town with the same name

According to this, there is another Kollam in Kozhikode district. -- Ganeshk (talk) 08:13, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Administration section

The Administration section in the Kollam page is not related to the city. It talks about the administration of Kollam district, and hence should be moved to there. The details specific to the city such as the city corporation details, No. of wards, Mayor's name, the hierarchy of the Police force in Kollam city, etc. should be included here. -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me...) :-) 11:10, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

District and town

Area of Kollam corporation

The area is not 2491 km² . Can any one provide the correct figure ? Please change it accordingly. -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me...) :-) 12:24, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I removed the area, but the other stats, except the population, also appear to be for the district. The density of the district can be calculated from http://www.kollam.nic.in/Gln.html to be 1038. Does the census dept publish literacy for each city, or just the districts ? Tintin 12:36, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

The census details of population, literacy, unemployment, poverty, etc, etc are available for each districts and cities. Even ward wise break up is available with the Census Department. But, unfortunately, the smaller break ups are not published in internet. You can contact the PRO at the HO of the Census Dept in Kerala for the break up details of the cities and towns. But, How to cite those in wiki is another question :-)

Redirect to Quilon(industrial chemical)

Should the redirect from Quilon to Kollam be removed since there is a need for a page on the widely used industrial chemical family called Quilon?Peri 03:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

List of schools and temples needed?

Lists of names in this article should be sourced in accordance with WP:BLP. As there is no way of constantly maintaining linked articles, this applies to names which have a Wikipedia article as well as those that do not. Rework needed

Need to clear the article of regularly reappearing spam about ashrams and tourist resorts. Most of the stuff is just not believable and borders on scamming. Orphaned references in Kollam

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Kollam's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

 Not done: I would classify the World Population Review website as generally unreliable in agreeance with Newslinger from 3 years ago. It lists 2 sources for the entire website at the very bottom of the home page, both of which are estimates and/or "prospects" for world population. For the Kerala page in particular there is nothing on the page providing any sort of sourcing; it doesn't even explain where in the sources it lists on the footer of the homepage you can find what it's claiming on the Kerala page.
The only source I could find on List of cities and towns in Kerala that I can evaluate or was relevant was https://www.citypopulation.de/en/india/kerala/, and no matter which column I click on, Kollam is not 4th. Just because another page on Wikipedia claims the information does not mean that it is authoritative. This is in stark contrast to the sentence in this article that claims it if ranked 5th which has 4 sources just for that claim. That said, I will concede I am unable to evaluate them as they are either not using HTTPS (and I refuse to go to non-HTTPS websites) or in a language I do not read, so it's possible that point is entirely moot.
I would suggest beginning a consensus discussion on this page, and possibly even on List of cities and towns in Kerala, to iron out with other editors how this should be resolved. —Sirdog (talk) 20:10, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
