Untitled[edit]

Archer is the author of a book on the fascist plot to oust President F.D. Roosevelt called The Plot to Seize The White House (New York: Hawthorne Books, 1973). Soon after publishing this, Hawthorne Books went out of business.

Archer was born in New York City and graduated from the City College of New York. During WWII he served in the Pacific with the Army Air Corps. According to the jacket cover of his book on "The Plot" he also worked as a freelance correspondent, by order of General MacArthur.

Archer was interviewed for the 50-minute History Channel documentary called "The Plot to Overthrow FDR" (In Search of History, 1999).

Archer also wrote many other political books largely dealing with American history and/or fascism. His books include the following: Twentieth Century Caesar, Benito Mussolini (1966), The Dictators (1967), The Extremists: Gadflies of American Society (1969), Hawks, Doves and the Eagle (1970), Thorn In Our Flesh: Castro’s Cuba (1970), Treason in America: Disloyalty Versus Dissent (1971), Strikes Bombs & Bullets: Big Bill Haywood & the IWW (1972), Watergate: America in Crisis (1975), Police State: Could It Happen Here? (1977), Riot! A History of Mob Action in the U.S. (1974) and You Can’t Do That to Me: Famous Fights for Human Rights (1980).

Hey the dates for his birthdate and his death is correct don't change because I'm part of his family.

It bears mentioning that Archer's books have not been well-received by historians.[1]. See also Sargent, James E. (November 1974). Review, The History Teacher, 8(1): 151-152.

It is my understanding that Archer was the ghost writer for "Dial M for Murder" in his early writing days. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Annecorbin (talkcontribs) 13:28, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
