I don't know what Ellis wrote about Jefferson and Hemings but this description seems pretty POV. At the very least, the details of whatever he wrote should be explained. MK 15:35, 8 Aug 2004 (UTC) (article has since been revised)

Any information on the result of his scandel regarding his pulitzer? I was told (word-of-mouth) that the awards committee re-examined his work for factual inconsistancies, but have found no sources to confirm this. Pulitzer.org makes no mention of the scandal at all. --67.182.67.34 06:31, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

I haven't read that anywhere, but I'm sure if it's true, someone will eventually find a link. It would certainly surprise me: Ellis's "facts" appear to me to be mostly in agreement with other historians in the field. Ellis's gift (besides wonderful writing) is taking the "facts" and using them to try to asses the thinking process of his subject. Some may quibble with his interpretations, but I doubt there's much problem with his documentation. --Kevin Myers 13:09, July 14, 2005 (UTC)

I think "To his credit" should be removed. "To his credit, Ellis acknowledged the mistake and issued a public apology" Sirfith 18:43, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
