Somerset?[edit]

Is it right to declare that John de Courcy was from Somerset? Seán Duffy has a persuasive article arguing that such was not the case, and in any case there's no source declaring him to be as such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.226.214.251 (talk) 14:07, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV[edit]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:

There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Text in quotes removed[edit]

Removed the following: A.D. 1176. " John de Courcy was opposed in his advance upon Uí Tuirtre and Fir-Lee by Cuimidhe Ó Fhloinn. In the following year having again invaded Dal-Aradia, he encountered Cuimidhe Ó Fhloinn, Lord of Uí Tuirtre and Fir-Laoi, and, having suffered a defeat, he fled wounded to Dublin."

No source was credited but it appears to be from the Annals of the Four Masters, or a source quoting thereof. Anyway, the text was poorly integrated with an incorrect (or conflicting) date. Richigi (talk) 20:12, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
