Identification[edit]

This is apparently John Alexander Maclaren Stewart.[1] Dates are given on http://www.authorandbookinfo.com/ngcoba/st1.htm: John Alexander MacLaren Stewart of Ardvorlich (1904 Mar 25 – 1985 May 11). The birth date is consistent for that on [2], which gives his wife's name as Violet Hermione Cameron, born 1907, marriage in 1930. He appears as Major John Alexander Maclaren Stewart, 14th of Ardvorlich here.

Consistent with all of this is the WikiTree page Stewart-20482.

I'm currently interested in what appears to be the "12th of Ardvorlich", John Stewart C.I.E. according to WikiTree. Is this the father-in-law of Francis Henry Skrine, and father of Helen Lucy Stewart; who was C.I.E. and R.A. according to Armorial Families (1929), visible to me as Google Books snippet? There is circumstantial family history here. Reliable references are lacking. This genealogics.org page, however, has a reference to Burke's Landed Gentry which could work out.

It would be an obvious advantage to this article to have the birth and death dates above confirmed. http://www.genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00276296&tree=LEO is also referenced to Burke.
