Here is a source for this John Seymour which has him as an esquire. To be a knight of the shire is not to be a knight, it's a title given to members of parliament for county constituencies, in this case Wiltshire. Moonraker2 (talk) 15:56, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hard to trace in parliament. Here is a reference to his father (I suppose) as member for Ludgershall in 1422 and for Wiltshire in 1435, 1439, and 1445 (see footnotes). Moonraker2 (talk) 16:40, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
