I don't know. Erickson (1983) just says "He had been a clerk in the British Army and was transported in the Pyrenees in June 1851, receiving his ticket-of-leave on the day of landing." Sometime in the next week or so I'll get myself down to the public library and have a look at the "bond" volume of Dictionary of Western Australians. James or John?[edit]
