Hi there.

According to the IAAF official Progression of World Best Performances and Official IAAF World Records (by Ekkehard zur Megede and Richard Hymans) and Bill Mallon's Golden Book of the Olympic Games, Flanagan was born on 9 January 1873. If your date is right, he was 40 when he won his third Olympic gold...
