Pictures[edit]

There's a picture of the old sign here which we probably can't use, so I'll head out as soon as we get a nice day and take some photos of the pub and its sign. The sign was lost after the renaming debacle when the pub was sold by Whitbread, so I think the image I've used is permissable, as it's irreplacable. -- JediLofty ^{User ¦ Talk} 16:13, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not the only pub?[edit]

I've removed the unsourced addition about it NOT being the only pub named after a VC winner. If this is true (it could well be true) this still needs referencing. Apparantly the source used says that it is the only pub, and this will have to stand until it can be proved otherwise. Mjroots (talk) 07:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it, as there is also one opened in 2006 and named after Alfred Cecil Herring (https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pub-histories/england/london/the-alfred-herring-palmers-green), and since this was written one named after Wilfred Wood has opened (2010, https://www.express.co.uk/news/world-war-1/525053/Pubs-named-after-war-heroes). There was also a pub named after Fred Potts in 2016 but now renamed.(https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/83870/) The John Brunt could have been the first; the earliest of the others I have mentioned opened just before the source was published.
