"a seller of heaters" Do you mean stoves?

- I chose "heaters" as its, afaik, the most fitting translation of the French word "poêlier" (see source). I'm not sure whether a proper English word exists for such a thing?[1]

"he left on a mission" Do we know the nature of the mission? Was it commercial?

- Wasn't able to find anything, unfortunately.

If it is known if he trained as a watchmaker before he left Zürich it would be helpful to say so.
