I'd like to work on this article, but I don't have time right now. However, while researching other articles, I found some references that could be used to improve this article with specific inline citations. I'd recommend to go to the base URL and then cite it with that and a page number rather than the "search" text.

Removed some information[edit]

I removed some inaccurate information from this article recently added by an editor, based on research that I had done at Library of Congress in the 1980s regarding our subject's birth name. I do not wish to include this information into the article because I do not feel it is an important contribution to the relevance of the notable subject of the article who is known as Jimmy Destri. If you disagree, please provide a reliable source WP:RS.

Also, while I believe that everything in this article is entirely factual, it is not reliably sourced. Editors who are interested in this article: please try to source the information. Our notable subject is extremely relevant to Blondie and has a career that speaks for itself. There are a very many interviews, both in video and in print, that attest to this. *I* will not challenge the information because I believe it to be factually correct in its entirety, but others could challenge and remove it. I would like this article to meet the criteria of an A-Class article, stable and accurate etc. I'll try to source the article when I have time, but information that is added should contain a reference at the time it is added. If anyone doesn't know how to create references, post the reference here and I will add it for you. There are a lot of true and interesting facts here that could be challenged (even by a bot). I think this would be detrimental to an important article.

I will try to source the birth date from a scan of the U.S. Fan Club's Jimmy Destri band member card when I get an opportunity. That is a reliable secondary source for that fact. Xblkx (talk) 04:43, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are a lot of Sources in Internet that says that his birth name is James Destri. Just browse it in any searcher. There are also some sources says that his name is James J. Destri, for example, 1, 2.--Antara-2009 (talk) 10:24, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note: It's not exactly correct: I think James J. Destri means James "Jimmy" Destry, so his name will be simply James Destry. But imdb and other much resources (if you browse imdb information) says that His Really full birth name is James Mollica Destri. Hello Antara-2009. I agree with you if you insist that all articles should contain a birth name if it is known, so okay, you undid my edit but then you put incorrect information back in again. Which is worse? I wasn't going to volunteer this information myself (none of my business) -- I was simply correcting the wrong information (that his birth name was Destri) because I tend to insist on accuracy. I'd like to explain why I made this edit in the first place. I realize that you are using imdb as a source, but it isn't a reliable source, and I know that if you're editing and discussing an article here in this much detail that you know that to be true. I believe MP03 is correct that the article's subject legally changed his name (I also don't know when). But one thing I do know, is that in the mid-1980's, I personally went to the Library of Congress several times to do research about Blondie and its members, and in the actual copyright registrations for the subject's works, the copyright claimant's name was listed as "Jimmy Destri, pseudonym of James Mollica". I have these registrations printed out but I can't find them to scan for you (and this article's other editors) right now. This information was provided on multiple copyright registration applications by the subject himself, just like I provided on the ones I filed myself. I genuinely don't know a better source other than actual birth records (and I live too far away to go find them). And furthermore, I personally saw legal documents from 1998 that did not use the name "Destri" at all.
I'm not going to undo your edit right now without that documentation in my hands, but it is a fact that Destri is a pseudonym (though very likely now a legal name) but that it was not his birth name according to the Library of Congress. I don't know how you want to handle this, or if you have access to public birth records in Brooklyn, but once I find those printouts or an online copyright registration, it's going to be pretty hard to convince me he was born as Destri unless there's more documentation than imdb. If there are many more sources like you suggest (that aren't simply copies of stuff from imdb), I'd definitely like to see them here for all the editors' consideration. Thanks for listening.
