"Name controversy" section[edit]

This section has been blanked a number of times. Can anything be done about it? Xwejnusgozo (talk) 14:33, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Because that's not clear. This article take the option of one judge who said that the Grand Master called himself and signed Jean de Valette. So we should use this name. But that's a bit odd because his ancestors were de La Valette, without adding the worst that if we decide to follow the lonely Giovanni Bonello's point of view, the article should renamed Jean de Valette and not Jean Parisot de Valette, as he never used Parisot himself, well according to Bonello's research. A consensus is obviously needed here, especially when German, French and Italian articles refers to him as de La Valette. My opinion is the article should include the both names and not only one. Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus is called Pompey by everybody, Gaius Julius Caesar is called Julius Caesar by everybody, Richard I Plantagenet is called Richard the Lionheart by everybody, I can with reason doubt they called themselves Pompey, Julius Caesar and Lionheart. 92.129.120.223 (talk) 00:45, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
