Use of redirects in disambiguation lists[edit]

The redirect Jane Doe (pseudonym) is currently used on this disambiguation page. Reading the Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(disambiguation_pages)#Piping_and_redirects article, one finds the following:

"Subject to certain exceptions as listed below, piping or redirects should not be used in disambiguation pages. ..."

Reviewing the Manual of Style's descriptions of when exceptions are considered appropriate, it's not clear to me that linking directly to the redirect page Jane Doe (pseudonym) in this case satisfies any of the "exception" categories listed - although neither is it clear that it doesn't qualify as an exception. Perhaps the Jane Doe case is analogous to the "James Cary" exception described there because:

"Linking to a redirect can also be helpful when the redirect contains the disambiguated term and could serve as an alternative name for the target article,..."

The term "Jane Doe" is included in the lead paragraph to the "John Doe" article and I suppose this exception would fit even better if "Jane Doe (pseudonym)" were considered a possible alternative title for the "John Doe" article. There is a brief general discussion of the topic at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Disambiguation_pages#Using_redirects which doesn't quite resolve the question for me but... I suppose it's not doing any harm currently 'as is'. Pugetbill (talk) 18:54, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 3 January 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Page to be moved. Consensus is unanimous for the move, with valid reasons. Jane Doe and Jane Doe (pseudonym) will be redirected to John Doe. Note: this mvoe requires a technical request for deletion of the target page, which I will initiate, so has not beeen carried out yet. Jane DoeJane Doe (disambiguation)Jane Doe (pseudonym) is the clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC more likely that other candidates put together - the most prominent being an unreferenced TV film stub. This happens to be similar to John Doe being the PT, and it should be a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to John Doe. Not expecting this to be controvercial, I've already styled so (undo me if you consider it so).
