Incomplete dab tag[edit]

I'd added an incompdab tag, complete dab is James Lewis, we don't tend to dab by more than personal name as it can cause a lot of duplication, (see MOS:DAB). I'm not stating that this isn't a case of WP:IAR, just that it is an incomplete dab, and thus should be looked at for a 3rd opinion. Boleyn (talk) 17:38, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, considering there is more than one James R. Lewis, I'm not understanding what the issue is here - can you quote the specific section MOS:DAB you think applies? Regardless, since you've asked for a 3rd opinion, please stop defacing the redirect until you get that 3rd opinion. Jayjg (talk) 00:34, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is hardly defacing a page to add a tag - defacing would imply some kind of vandalism. WP:Disambiguation#Incomplete disambiguation is where the relevant section is, but it's not as detailed as perhaps it could be. Since May, a project has been ongoing to avoid double disambiguation if possible, although in some occasions it may be useful; you can see more at Category:Incomplete disambiguation. Again, I'm not expressing an opinion yet on whether this particular page is useful, I just tagged it so it would be looked at by the team in due course, and then kept and tag removed, or nominated for merge or redirect. That can't be done if an editor is edit-warring and keeps removing the tag. I won't restore it, only because I'm not interested in arguing or edit-warring. Defacing and vandalism are not the same; I was certainly not implying you were doing the latter. I've restored the tag to the Talk: page; that way it can still be "looked at by the team in due course", but also used as a disambiguation if and until that happens. Hi, I have edited a link on this talk page (in Boleyn's comment) as it was incorrectly categorising the talk page as an incomplete dab.
IMHO it would be best to remove this dab page and leave the James Lewis dab to do the job. (That dab page already includes the two James R. Lewises anyway.) Anyone still following this? :) If not, I'll redirect this dab to James Lewis and then try to fix the incoming links from mainspace. ~ Kimelea (talk) 13:42, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 13:53, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
